Back Pain Relief Through Back Massage

Massage therapy is often used by physical therapists that use many other forms of therapy like active and passive exercise and weight training to alleviate back pain.

Massage therapy is also a stand-alone therapy that is used by licensed massage therapists.

Massage therapists use oils for the purpose of decreasing friction during a massage.

Reducing friction makes the massage more comfortable for the person receiving the massage, but the oils and reduction of friction also make the massage less effective. The less oil that can be used during a massage, the better the massage will be.

The idea of a massage is to increase blood flow to the muscles and to relax the muscles so that the increased blood flow will continue once the massage is completed.

Even those who are not trained in giving massages can help their loved ones who are suffering from back pain. Gently massaging taut muscles helps them to relax.

When muscles relax, blood flow increases and when blood flow increases, pain diminishes.
